Eva Mameli  è stata una botanica e naturalista, una delle prime persone in Italia a dedicarsi alla protezione e conservazione degli uccelli insettivori, un'ambientalista ante litteram.  Eva è stata anche la prima donna a ottenere la libera docenza in Botanica in una università italiana, la seconda in assoluto. La prima a ottenere la libera docenza in Italia fu Rina Monti: lo scrive la stessa Eva Mameli in un articolo su “Revista de Agricultura, Comercio y Trabajo” (Cuba) in cui menziona le conquiste scientifiche e accademiche raggiunge dalle donne dell’Università di Pavia. The New Yorker reviewed her solo show in 2008, three years ago, Lightbox, a popular blog curated by Time magazine, dedicated an article to her project Human Observations; her work has been exhibited in some of the most important art shows in the world and now  Maria Antonietta Mameli 's work is going to be part of a group show at GovanorArt, a very beautiful and innovative exhibition space in Bonnanaro (SS), Italy, starting from April 12th, 2014. Mameli artistic career started in 2007 when her work was exhibited at the prestigious art show Paris Photo with the Bruce Silverstein gallery. Her most recent series titled "Grand Central Station, Continued' - inspired by the celebrations for the Grand Central Station Centennial in New York, made their debut, in June 2013, at Art Basel, Switzerland, considered the most prestigious art show in the world. Italy has returned to Libya the head of a 2,000 year-old statue that was smuggled out of the country in the 1960s. Prime Minister Mario Monti gave the sculpted head of Domitilla Minor, the daughter of Roman emperor Vespasian, to Libyan authorities during his trip to Tripoli on Saturday. The sculpture was taken from Libya's city of Sabratha in the 1960s, and recently auctioned at Christie's. Monti was making his first visit to Libya since the capture and killing of longtime leader Moammar Gadhafi in October.
