Art Slavery di Sandro Dernini al Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma il 3 maggio 2011

Il 3 maggio alle 18 a Roma (Palazzo delle Esposizioni) Sandro Dernini presenta Art Slavery (Ed. Università Sapienza). Il libro illustra la storia del movimento artistico Plexus International dal 1982 al 2008 a bordo di una metaforica nave di schiavi dellʼarte. Plexus dopo le prime esperienze allʼArtWorld di New York si spostò alla Casa degli Schiavi di Gorée, in Senegal, dove fu presentato il Manifesto Art Slavery contro ogni forma di schiavitù e la mercificazione dellʼarte.
Dopo 25 anni di eventi che hanno coinvolto un migliaio di artisti e scienziati intorno al mondo, Plexus è ancora attivo allʼinterno di un ambiente artistico variegato. Il libro è un invito aperto rivolto a tutti coloro che sono interessati ad approcci creativi ed alternative sostenibili per fermare insieme l'erosione crescente del patrimonio naturale e culturale dell'umanità come azione di responsabilità sociale.

Abstract:
This book reports in an illustrated and compressed way, the history of Plexus International and its journey, from 1982 to 2008. It starts in the early 80s from the Lower East Side Community in New York on board on a metaphoric art slaves’ ship. I have chosen an illustrated book format for let speak images for themselves. In selecting these photos, throughout more then 10.000 collected images stored in the Plexus archive, I applied again the Alfred Schutz’ phenomenological and methodological approach1 utilized within my Ph.D. at the N.Y.U. titled Plexus Black Box, a multicultural aesthetic inquiry completed in 1997 and published in 2007 by the Academic Press of Sapienza University of Rome. The "unique quarter of century" documentation reported in this book aims to acknowledge Plexus International for its historical non-stop art efforts despite the vanishing art groups and movement among the Art world.
