Inverse Power of Wavelenghts, Alessandro Carboni, New York.

Inverse Power of Wavelenghts
Concept, performance and object media-base

The central theme of the Inverse Power of Wavelengths is an investigation on the relationship between city and body: an analysis of the distinctive aspect of how inhabitants are able to shape the city and how it is transformed in relation to urban transformation. In Inverse Power of Wavelengths, the performance space is a "molecular” spatial frame, which allowed us to rethink of urban space, not as something given, but as a place of experience and production in which the body, in its various specific aspects, becomes the agent of change and fulcrum of discussion. The performance is based on a cross-disciplinary experimentation in which the observation and documentation of body and urban space are the key elements of a performing and visual.

Bio
Alessandro Carboni (1976) multidisciplinary artist, his focal interest is how body is related to surrounding space and how body movement is able to effect it. A large part of his formation was carried out of Sardinia between Central Saint's Martin in London, Academy of Fine Art in Florence, School of Architecture in Hong Kong, School of Drama in India and Metropolitan Studies in Berlin. His research and know-how, accumulated both as researcher, as performer and as a choreographer – namely through a practice and theory based methodology of composition –, is taking him closer to the kind of research pursued within science (specially some of the research carried out in architecture, urban geography, cognitive and complex systems science), as well as to the kind of work we can find in fields like economics or design. In the past years, he has been invited to give talks, master classes, and act as a coach in various institutions connected with those fields. He regularly teaches and present is works across Europe, Hong Kong, India, China. At present, he is expanding the scope of his research coordinating the activities of ‘LaDU: Multimedia Lab. of Urban Density’ - Faculty of Architecture, Cagliari. Carboni teaches ‘Methodology and Performance Practice’ at the MA in 'Performance Design and Practice' at Central Saint Martin's in London and ‘Digital Performance’ at the 'MA Digital Environment Design' at NABA in Milan. He is Associate Researcher and teacher at the School of Architecture of Hong Kong.
